Himachal Pradesh Tourism Update: April 1 Travel Rules Every Tourist Should Know
In our today’s blog we are going to discuss about Himachal Pradesh Tourism. In our earlier blog we have already discussed the policy of taxes and tolls in Uttarakhand that have been started in the month of February under the camera. One more update is that now from 1st April 2026 everything on the tolls may be cashless.
As Indians have two famous tourist spots in hills, one is Uttarakhand while other is Himachal Pradesh. Now the travelling to the most famous place of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla is more convenient to reach. As the center has approved ₹1463.95 crores for the construction of a six lane from the tricity region Chandigarh to reduce time and traffic.
This major connectivity boost is expected to strengthen Himachal Pradesh Tourism by reducing congestion and saving travel time for tourists heading towards the hills.

Himachal Pradesh Toll Tax: ₹170 Per Day Entry for Outside Vehicles
The new policy of tax has been implemented by the HP (Himachal Pradesh) Government for the tourist and the movement of outside vehicles like cars, jeeps, vans have to pay toll of ₹170/day and the toll has been increased by upto 2 ½ for some categories of vehicles. New entry or barrier toll rates will be effective from 1st April 2026.
Under the policy:
Vehicles registered in Himachal Pradesh remain exempt from these entry fees. The new rates apply at major entry points, including Parwanoo, Baddi, Mandi, and Kandwal.
The Government believe this increase will significantly boost state revenue for improvement of local infrastructure. This change is expected to directly impact travel planning and cost under Himachal Pradesh Tourism from April 2026.
Women Tourist Safety: SHE Tourist Policy
Under a major reform in Himachal Pradesh Tourism, the state government is going to prepare women tourist policy (SHE Tourist Policy). The objective of this policy is to provide safe, reliable and convenient environment to women.
Women Tourist will now be hosted by women. The tourism department is having a meeting with tourism businessman, hotel operators, home stay owners and stakeholders. The department will verify home stays and develop separate network of female guide and taxi operators.
With the development of women tourism policy Himachal will become the most preferable destination for the women traveling independently. There will be strict security regulations such as CCTV, security guards and mandatory police verification will be implemented for home stays, resorts, adventure tracks are proposed as the part of special package for women.
This initiative is expected to position Himachal Pradesh Tourism as one of the safest hill travel destinations for solo female travellers in India.
Nationwide: Cashless Toll Plazas From April 1, 2026
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is planning to discontinue cash payments at all national highway toll plazas across India, including those in Uttarakhand, from April 1, 2026.
Fully Digital: Toll payments will be processed exclusively through FASTag or Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
Objective: To eliminate long queues, increase transparency, and improve efficiency at toll booths.
Penalty: Vehicles without a valid, functional FASTag, or opting for manual/cash payment, may face higher charges.
This nationwide move will also influence road travel trends and operational systems linked to Himachal Pradesh Tourism.
